Composer

Alexander Flood began composing at a very early age, but only started to pursue it seriously whilst at Oxford and then as a postgraduate student at King's College, London. Since then, he has built up an enviable portfolio of works across most genres, and received considerable acclaim for his music's dynamism, inventiveness and coherence.

His compositions draw on a wide pool of historical and contemporary influences, and several pieces refer directly to specific earlier models. However, a much more important factor has been the assimilation into his music of modal frameworks, in combination with long-range harmonic and melodic thinking. With these strong backbones to his technique, he has produced scores equally successfully for professional and amateur performance alike.
